SGVsbG8=Expected: Hello
This is a reversible text encoding, without any secret key.
caféExpected: Y2Fmw6k=
The accented character is encoded as UTF-8 bytes before Base64 conversion.
Base64 is an encoding, not encryption. Never treat an encoded password as securely stored. Decoding accepts valid UTF-8 text only.
Choose Encode for plain text and Decode for Base64. Hello becomes SGVsbG8=. The tool converts text to UTF-8 bytes before encoding, so Unicode text can be round-tripped without treating each character as a single byte. Decode your output once to verify that you have encoded the intended text.
Anyone with the encoded value can decode it. Base64 is useful for transporting bytes through text-oriented formats, but it does not protect passwords or API secrets. Its output is usually larger than the original bytes, approximately four characters for every three bytes before padding.
The decoder expects standard Base64 containing valid UTF-8 text. Arbitrary binary images may decode to invalid text and are not supported as file downloads by this tool. Remove a data URL prefix before supplying its Base64 text. URL-safe Base64 uses a different alphabet and is not automatically normalized here.
