How to use Text Cleaner

Choose whitespace, blank-line and duplicate rules, then clean your list. Optionally ignore letter case and sort in the same step. The summary shows exactly how many lines were removed.

Clean a pasted list while keeping its order

Enter one item per line and choose Clean list with Remove duplicates selected. The lines apple, banana, apple become apple followed by banana. The first occurrence determines order. By default, leading and trailing whitespace is removed before comparison and blank lines are dropped. You can turn either rule off. Save a copy if those spaces or blank rows matter.

Case and sorting are separate choices

Apple and apple remain separate by default. Enable Ignore letter case to merge them while keeping the spelling of the first occurrence. Choose A–Z or Z–A to sort with English locale comparison after cleanup. Disable Remove duplicates if you want sorting alone. The summary reports removed duplicates and blank lines separately.

Use line cleanup for text, not structured records

A line containing a comma is still one whole item. This tool does not parse CSV quoting, merge database records or recognize two differently formatted addresses as the same person. For structured data, define the matching key before removing records.
